Il Pacto por el Clima de las fundaciones españolas in Spagna prima, e la Coalition française des fondations pour le Climat in Francia poi: sono queste le dichiarazioni d’impegno promosse nei due Paesi, a testimonianza della volontà di fondazioni ed enti filantropici europei di far fronte al cambiamento climatico, qualunque sia la loro mission e i loro programmi.
PERCHE’ I MOVIMENTI DELLE DONNE RICEVONO SOLO 1% DEI FONDI DESTINATI A PROMUOVERE L’EQUITÀ DI GENERE?
I movimenti delle donne sono tra le organizzazioni che guidano il cambiamento trasformativo e duraturo; il motivo per cui hanno bisogno di maggiori e migliori finanziamenti è stato sottolineato più volte. Ora anche il modo in cui fondazioni ed enti filantropici li supportano deve cambiare.
AWID e Mama Cash hanno pubblicato un report “Moving more money to the drivers of change: how bilateral and multilateral funders can resource feminist movements”, dove presentano lo stato dell’arte dei finanziamenti dedicati all’eguaglianza di genere, delineano le sfide e limiti che fondazioni ed enti filantropici spesso si trovano davanti e offrono possibili soluzioni. Infine, condividono 9 esperienze di successo di organizzazioni che hanno supportato i movimenti delle donne.

Sono passati vent’anni da quando WINGS (Worldwide Initiatives for Grantmaker Support), network che riunisce associazioni di supporto, practitioners del mondo della filantropia globale e changemakers, è stata fondata. Da un piccolo gruppo situato a Oxaca Messico, WINGS è una rete globale unica e variegata, con 170 membri da 55 Paesi.
WINGS si presenta oggi in una veste nuova, con un nuovo logo e un nuovo sito, che rispecchia appieno il suo impegno di far evolvere la filantropia in tutte le sue forme, in tutto il mondo.

MAPPING OF COVID MEASURES
Culture Action Europe and the European Cultural Foundation have mapped emergency initiatives and measures carried out across Europe that address the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak on culture, arts, creative sectors – with the aim was to identify key challenges and possible gaps, or needs, yet unaddressed by the policymakers. Based on these findings, based on a large number of available resources, we hope to contribute, along the numerous sector-driven initiatives, to a better understanding of this situation, and to try to generate ideas for future scenarios at the European level.
WELLCOME’S NEW STRATEGY TO ADDRESS WORLD BIGGEST THREATS TO HEALTH
The Wellcome Trust, the world’s fourth-largest foundation and one of the largest funders of global health, has announced its new strategy, which will focus on infectious diseases, mental health, and global heating.
Ed Whiting, the Wellcome Trust Director of Strategy, spoke to Alliance in a wide-ranging interview, published today.
Speaking to Alliance in an interview published today ahead of Alliance magazine’s latest issue on global health philanthropy, Ed Whiting, Wellcome’s Director of Strategy, shared that Wellcome underwent a year and a half long process of analysing the foundation’s place in the world and the most present health threats, saying: ‘when we looked at the burden of disease and all sorts of other indicators, it felt to us – and it’s a judgement call – that what really jumped out were escalating risks of infectious disease, mental health problems, and the way global heating is changing health.’
GREEN ENERGY INVESTMENT TO INCREASE, BUT MORE WILL BE NEEDED
A new report reveals that investment into renewable energy is likely to increase significantly over the next five years.
According to Climate Action, over one-third of investors surveyed believe that the Covid-19 crisis has made the fight against climate change more urgent and renewables more attractive. The research comes from the latest annual report from the sustainable energy specialist Octopus, which climates that 80 per cent of global institutional investors plan to increase their overall portfolio allocation to green energy.
