ONLINE LA “CALL FOR PROPOSAL 2023” DELL’ALLIANCE FOR GENDER EQUALITY IN EUROPE
L’Alliance for Gender Equality in Europe, un fondo collaborativo ospitato da NEF (Network of European Foundations) che si occupa di uguaglianza di genere, ha lanciato un nuovo invito a presentare proposte per un importo complessivo di 3,5 milioni di euro. L’obiettivo di questo bando è quello di promuovere soluzioni d’impatto e sostenibili, guidate dalle comunità stesse, che favoriscano opportunità economiche per le donne emarginate, i transgender, persone non-binary e gender nonconforming in Europa. Questo finanziamento intende promuovere la visione dell’Alleanza di una società europea giusta ed equa, in cui l’uguaglianza di genere sia raggiunta per tutte le persone, specialmente quelle che vivono in situazioni di vulnerabilità.

Nel 2022, numerosi disastri legati al clima hanno colpito il mondo. Lo scorso anno si sono registrati anche ingenti impegni filantropici a sostegno degli sforzi per ridurre le emissioni di gas serra, mitigare gli impatti del cambiamento climatico e sostenere la giustizia climatica. Nonostante il crescente senso di urgenza e le richieste di maggiori investimenti, tuttavia, la ricerca ha dimostrato – e le fondazioni stesse hanno riconosciuto – che il settore deve fare di più per affrontare la crisi climatica.

UN Climate Change News, 3 January 2023 – Earlene Cruz is on a mission to make people hungry for climate action every time they sit down to eat.
Cruz is the Founder and Executive Director of Kitchen Connection Alliance, an entity that seeks to improve systems for growing and distributing food worldwide. She was at COP27 last November to launch the Cookbook in Support of the United Nations, an event facilitated by UN Climate Change.
Cruz describes it as a “non-prescriptive guide to inspire people to eat and cook what is available, feasible, and sustainable in their local contexts.”
DIGITAL PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE BACKED BY SOCIAL INVESTMENT CAN DEMOCRATISE HANDICRAFT E-COMMERCE
The global handicraft industry is valued at nearly $750 billion but worldwide, the creators of handmade products are denied fair compensation or recognition for their work. It is a similar story in India, where more than 60 per cent of Indian handloom weavers earn less than $63 monthly[1] or $2.10 a day, surviving just below the international poverty line of $2.15 a day. According to some estimates, artisans and weavers form the third largest segment among the poor in India. The handicrafts sector suffers from neglect by the government and philanthropists alike, with budgetary allocations to the handloom sector reduced by almost 40 per cent between 2014 and 2018, and less than 2 per cent of domestic corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding going towards the art and culture sector (FY 2020-21). Given the impoverished status of Indian artisans, innovative solutions are urgently needed to uplift the craft sector.
