L’ALLIANCE FOR GENDER EQUALITY IN EUROPE LANCIA “IL FONDO SOLIDALE COVID 2021”
C’è tempo fino al 6 ottobre per ottenere un finanziamento fino a 50.000€ per le organizzazioni che si occupano di una moltitudine di temi legati alla parità di genere. La call for proposal è promossa dall’Alliance for Gender Equality in Europe ed è il primo pilastro di un’iniziativa, divisa in due parti: da un lato, un fondo tematico comune, a cui contribuiscono i tre membri fondatori, Fondation CHANEL, King Baudouin Foundation e L’Oréal Fund for Women, e dall’altro una piattaforma di scambio di conoscenze.

La conferenza online è aperta a tutti coloro interessati al mondo della filantropia di comunità e si basa su un’iniziativa congiunta intrapresa lo scorso anno dal West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI), dalla GFCF e dalla STAR-Ghana Foundation, volta a promuovere la filantropia comunitaria e l’empowerment delle comunità nello svilupparsi e fiorire, nonché ad esplorare potenziali vie per fondazioni ed enti filantropici per fornire supporto in modo rapido e trasparente alla società civile locale in Africa.

Nearly 50 per cent of the developing world population is made up of children and youth. Of the 1.5 billion young people in the world, nearly one billion live in developing countries. Malawi, where I live, is facing a massive youth bulge, with children and youth making up more than half of the population — both a challenge and an opportunity for young people to play a significant role in the social development of their communities and society.
IMPULSE BY CHIESI FOUNDATION
In July 2021 the Chiesi Foundation funded and supported, IMPULSE – Improving Quality and Use of Newborn Indicators.
IMPULSE is a two-phase research project led by the consortium of Burlo Garofalo WHO Collaborating Centre, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and CUAMM Doctors with Africa and developed in collaboration with the World Health Organization and UNICEF. The research aims to generate evidence on effective and sustainable tools and methods for improving availability, quality, and use of newborn data in sub-Saharan Africa and, by doing so, contribute to improving health and wellbeing of every newborn, particularly those who are small, sick and admitted for hospital care.
LOOKING BACK, LOOKING AHEAD: IMPACT INVESTING AT A CROSSROAD
In the earliest days of a formal impact investing industry, the concept itself was radical.
I vividly recall sitting in an office with my mentor and former boss, shortly before the Global Impact Investing Network officially launched in 2009. She said to me and the GIIN’s founding board chair: ‘Look guys, there are about a hundred ways this could go wrong – and maybe one way it goes right.’ It was not particularly optimistic, but it was honest and captured the challenge before us.
