This moment, when so much in the world is defined by the day-to-day news cycle of chaos, is actually a moment for deep reflection about who we want to be as people, as communities, as societies and as a part of the miraculous ecosystem in which we evolved.
EUROPEAN COMMISSION SEEKS FEEDBACK ON DISABILITY RIGHTS STRATEGY ROADMAP FOR 2021-30
The European Commission has shared its disability rights strategy roadmap for 2021-30 as its seeks feedback for the further development and fine tuning of the initiative.
The strategy aims to ensure that people with disabilities can enjoy full social and economic inclusion on an equal basis with others. The roadmap focuses upon the application of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and on the consolidation of the EU legislative body in this area, based on the 2010-2020 Strategy.
The deadline for feedback is 12 November.
ACF PUBLISHES RECOMMENDATIONS FOR STRONGER PRACTICE FOR FOUNDATIONS CHAIR
The Association of Charitable Foundations has published a new report highlighting recommendations for chairs of foundation boards. The report, 10 Pillars of Stronger Practice for Chairs of Foundation, builds on the six thematic reports that emerged from ACF’s Stronger Foundations initiative. This new report also marks ACF’s annual event for foundation chairs of trustees.
The pillars set a high bar for ambitious practice, but can be pursued by all foundations, whatever their remit, size or area of focus. Recommendations to chairs include making the foundation accountable to those it serves, designing funding processes in accordance with its values, seeking to understand the foundation’s impact on others and avoiding harm, and having a diverse trustee board and staff team.
