COME LE FONDAZIONI PRODUCONO UN MAGGIORE IMPATTO ATTRAVERSO I LORO INVESTIMENTI
Secondo il rapporto “Investment: The pillars of stronger foundation practice“, a cura di ACF (Association of Charitable Foundations), realizzato nell’ambito dell’iniziativa Stronger Foundations, le fondazioni ed enti filantropici del futuro daranno priorità alla propria missione nella definizione degli obiettivi di investimento, responsabilizzeranno i propri asset manager, e proveranno a influenzare positivamente le pratiche di investimento degli altri.
Questo è un trend che si sta già riscontrando, afferma Carol Mack, Chief Executive di ACF, che segnala un crescente interesse da parte delle fondazioni di utilizzare appieno la loro “scatola degli attrezzi”, che comprende l’equity, i prestiti e i social impact bonds, per raggiungere la propria missione, oltre a tenere in considerazione questioni quali la diversity e il clima nel decidere i propri investimenti.

t inspired me to think about popular beliefs with respect to endowment management and the use of investment strategies in philanthropic spending. Both could be challenged and deserve it to be challenged. In my work with foundations I see conventional wisdoms and also new trends that should not be taken for granted but require some reflection and possibly even demystification. Let me mention three different issues, foundations should address in relation to their endowment management and the use of investment tools on the spending side.
CLIMATE PHILANTHROPY HAS DOUBLED SINCE 2015 YET STILL LESS THAN TWO PERCENT OF TOTAL GIVING
Leading global platform for climate philanthropy ClimateWorks Foundation has published a new report on philanthropic funding for climate change mitigation. The report revealed that while foundation funding for climate change has nearly doubled since 2015 – last year it amounted to between $5-9 billion – it makes up less than two per cent of total giving across both individuals and foundations.
