Come possono gli imprenditori sociali e le ONG collaborare per promuovere il cambiamento dei sistemi?
Quali ostacoli incontrano nel tentativo di lavorare insieme? Quali sono i fattori critici di successo per queste partnership? Le ricerche sul modo in cui le ONG collaborano con gli imprenditori sociali per catalizzare strategie nuove e innovative per affrontare problemi globali urgenti sono relativamente poche, ma è evidente l’urgenza di comprendere e sostenere il loro ruolo nel guidare l’innovazione sociale in collaborazione con gli imprenditori sociali.
In questo rapporto, basato su interviste, sondaggi e una serie di eventi, Ashoka ha identificato 14 azioni che le ONG, gli imprenditori sociali, le fondazioni ed enti filantropici e gli intermediari possono intraprendere per sbloccare il potenziale di queste collaborazioni e dell’innovazione sociale sistemica.

In a country in dire need of transformative change, the Independent Philanthropy Association South Africa (IPASA) serves as the only organisation of its kind in South Africa. Our vision is to be a key influencer and facilitator of the transformation, promotion and growth of independent philanthropy in our country. Since our establishment in 2015, we have actively fostered a diverse and inclusive community of members with unique perspectives, experiences, and ideas, recognising that this diversity is essential to achieving our mission and creating a lasting impact on society. Our members span a broad spectrum, with some established as far back as the 1930s and others having been in existence for only a few years.
THE EQUITABLE WAY FORWARD: GIVING CIRCLES
The traditional hierarchical structure for philanthropy might mean well – but it’s rooted in patriarchal power and the white supremacy of the ‘white saviour’ who knows best swooping in to tell a community how to spend the donation. The traditional way is also grossly under-serving women and girls, who make up 51 per cent of the population, yet organisations that specifically serve these groups only receive 1.9 per cent of all philanthropic funding.
MOVING MONEY TO GIRLS
Since the very first days of Purposeful, we have known that to build power with girls and their allies is to move resources directly to them. For what is a discussion of power without a discussion of money? Ultimately, to move money directly to girls is an act of solidarity and a political statement of intent, about how the world can and should be. It’s also a process of learning, deepening and embedding different world views and different ways of being into organisational practice. To adapt the phrase from Arundhati Roy, the money, when moved right – with love, care, and political intention – suddenly becomes a portal into another kind of existence.
